Exodus Youth Worx UK is a community-rooted charity supporting young people and families. We create safe, positive and inspiring spaces where young people can grow in confidence, discover their gifts and talents, access support, build friendships and feel seen, heard and valued.
Set up in 2019 and launching only a month before the pandemic hit in March 2020, we have been working tirelessly with children, young people, and their families to respond to the clear needs, helping build better lives and giving them access to opportunities in a variety of areas.
Exodus has met these needs by creating consistent, trusted and community-led spaces where young people and families can access support, encouragement, creativity and positive opportunities.
Young people needing safe spaces
Exodus has provided safe, welcoming spaces where young people can come as they are, build friendships, talk openly, take part in positive activities and feel a sense of belonging. Through youth sessions, study spaces, creative projects, events and mentoring, Exodus gives young people somewhere they can feel seen, heard, valued and supported outside of school and home.
Families need support
Exodus recognises that young people do not exist in isolation, so supporting families is a key part of the work. Parents and carers are given opportunities to ask questions, share concerns and access guidance around issues affecting their children, including confidence, behaviour, school pressures, online safety, emotional wellbeing and positive decision-making. Exodus acts as a bridge between young people, families, schools and wider support networks.
The importance of trusted adults
One of the strongest ways Exodus meets young people’s needs is through trusted relationships. Youth workers, volunteers and mentors offer consistent, caring adult support. They listen without judgement, encourage young people through challenges, celebrate their progress and help them feel that someone is genuinely invested in them. These relationships can be life-changing for young people who may not always feel understood elsewhere.
Hope, community, creativity and mentoring
Exodus brings together love in action, community care, creative expression and practical mentoring. Young people are encouraged to explore their gifts through music, arts, media, workshops, performance, discussion and leadership opportunities. The foundation of Exodus is reflected through compassion, service, hope and a belief that every young person has purpose and potential.
Helping young people make positive choices
Through youth work, mentoring, workshops and positive activities, Exodus supports young people to think about their choices, their future and the impact they can have on themselves and others. Sessions help build confidence, resilience, communication skills, emotional awareness and self-worth, giving young people the tools to make safer, healthier and more positive decisions. We also have our Young Leaders work with the young people as peer mentors.
Working with schools, parents, volunteers and local partners
Exodus works collaboratively because young people need a strong circle of support around them. By building relationships with schools, parents, volunteers, churches, community organisations and local partners, Exodus is able to respond to real needs, share resources, create opportunities and provide joined-up support. This partnership approach helps ensure that young people are not left to navigate challenges alone.
